Paddy Wildy`s Page
It was nice to see a new contact on my Forum Page from Pat Harris who had some photographs of her father, Paddy Wildy who served at 107MU around 1942-1944. She expressed the wish to have them included in a collection somewhere and accepted my offer to host them on my website...Alwyn
The above picture has the following writing on the reverse. It appears to suggest that this was taken in Durban, South Africa in 1942, possibly en route to ths Suez Canal Zone via the Cape of Good Hope.

Could it be that this photo was taken in the UK ?. Anyone know the type ? Number on the tail plane is J 8622 or possibly 8822 or even 8822
The above picture could also be UK based as there were not many hedges at 107MU
An unknown LAC
This is the first photo I have seen of a bunch of servicemen on top of the Great Pyramid
Pat`s thoughts on the line-up... ? / Tully / My dad Paddy Wildy / Ron Pearce / James
p.s. Dec 6th 2013...While reading a library book " Fall out the Officers " by Spike Mays which included details of his time in Cairo in about 1929 while serving with the Royal Dragoons, he describes how when working as a signaller with Heliographs, two signalling points were established, one on top of the Cheops pyramid and one on the roof of the Citadel Military Hospital near the Mohammed Aly Mosque. While on exercises, they made contact with the top of the pyramid from way out in the desert !!! ...While on top of the pyramid on one occasion, he saw the inscribed name of Howard Carter of Tutankhamun fame on the topmost block, so Spike did likewise with a knife !!!
His book includes this poem from 1929 entitled " Roll on the Boat " ( I always wondered where that particular expression came from..Alwyn )
Roll on the ship that takes me for a trip
Far from this land of pox and fever
Mosquitoes, bugs and flies
tear out your f...... eyes
Roll on the boat that takes me home.

A terribly sad picture. Can anyone throw any light on the possible location. Is it a mixed burial site or temporary graveyard ?
