REVIEWING HIS PHOTOGRAPHS
Does top one say Tomahawk ?...All 3 shots above could be Kasfareet.
My eyesight is not so good but there are only 2 pictures which might in my opinion be attributed to Kasfareet. Above left, airman wearing fez. Looks like a typical shot behind the YMCA looking toward Kasfareet village. Also above right, camels parked close to billets may possibly be Kasfareet but background is not clear enough. I have seen comments that at certain times, camels were employed to tow aircraft around
I am convinced now that these pictures are from 1942 when Churchill flew in in a twin engine aircraft. It was at this time that he promoted General Montgomery to plot the downfall of Rommel. Can anyone throw any light on the last picture showing German Big Nebbies shaking hands with British officers ??? Were they being paraded at the same time just because Winnie was there ? Churchill did visit North Africa again in 1943 when he was on a tour of the Middle East and wanted to celebrate with the troops for kicking Rommel and his desert army back into Italy. Om that second visit, Churchill arrived in a 4 engine Liberator bearing the name COMMANDO.
